The Journey Through a Life of Meaning and Purpose

Have you ever looked around your life and wondered what it is all about? There are moments when we doubt ourselves and our world. We question if our actions are futile and our presence in the world meaningless. The world’s religions, philosophies, and teachings assist us in piecing together the human experience, yet sometimes the theories of others are not enough to ensure against hopelessness or despair within. We need to examine our own beliefs, values, and experiences. We need to fashion our own philosophy. Our belief choices must lead us to a unique life of purpose and meaning.

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the sun.
A time to be born,
and a time to die
A time to plant,
and a time to reap
A time to weep
and a time to laugh
A time to mourn
and a time to dance. Proverb.

When we work together in therapy, we discover the resources within. We also uncover the beliefs and habits that unconsciously contribute to feelings of gloom about the future. In compassionate, therapeutic relationships, we are able to examine the gifts within and without, and to shape a set of intentions for the life that will bring joy. No one can do this alone. We are social beings. Our understanding of ourselves is deepened in discovery with another explorer. My exploration with you is respectful of your faith, beliefs, or principles and values Our journey together brings us to a wider universe and to the energies and beliefs that guide your way forward.

We need the courage to create ourselves daily, to be bodacious enough to create ourselves daily – as Christians, as Jews, as Muslims, as thinking, caring, laughing, loving human beings. I think that the courage to confront evil and turn it by dint of will into something applicable to the development of our evolution, individually and collectively, is exciting, honorable. - Maya Angelou
